Scott Glysson, Asst. Conductor
Scott Glysson is a full time resident at The University of Arizona,
pursuing his graduate and doctoral degrees in choral conducting. He is excited to have been appointed
Assistant Director of the TABC as a part of his graduate teaching assistantship through The University
of Arizona.
Previously Mr. Glysson served as Director of Music at Floris United
Methodist Church, the largest Methodist church in Virginia. He also served as the Artistic Director of
the Floris Concert Series, where he organized and conducted major work charity concerts with choir and
orchestra twice a year. He has also served as Assistant Conductor of The Reston Chorale, one of the
Washington D.C areas most celebrated chorus’s.
Mr. Glysson has been recognized for his achievements in conducting in both the
choral and orchestral genres. He has studied with notable conductors such as Simon Carrington, Bruce Chamberlain,
Andre Thomas, and Stan Engebretson. As Assistant Conductor of the George Mason University Chamber Chorus for
two years, he has conducted choral groups abroad in such locations as Russia, Australia, and Germany. He has
also served as conductor for two professional recordings of music by Johann Pachelbel and Ralph Vaughn Williams.
Mr. Glysson is the first student in the School of Music’s history to conduct combined forces of large choir and
full orchestra at the undergraduate level. He received the George Mason University departmental award for
outstanding music student for his achievements in the area of choral and orchestral conducting.
Mr. Glysson holds a degree in Music Education with a concentration in Choral Conducting
from The George Mason University School of Music.
