Historical Highlights from the 2000s
2000 – The Chorus is given the prestigious
title, American Anchor Choir for AmericaFest 2000.
2001 – The Touring
Chorus goes on the Orient Odyssey Tour, traveling to Thailand, Vietnam,
Hong Kong, China, South Korea, and Hawaii.
2001 – Featured choir at the 5th biennial BoyChoir & Young
Men’s Singing Festival in Salem, Oregon.
2002 – The Chorus participates as a featured
choir at the international singing festival, AmericaFest, and the Sixth
World
Symposium on Choral Music, both held in Minneapolis
2002 – The Chorus hosts
the 12th International Children's Choir Festival, with choirs from
Venezuela, Mexico, Finland, China and the United States
participating.
2003 – More than half of the Touring Chorus is
selected to participate in the National Honor Choir of Men and Boys at
their
annual convention
in New York City. The Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus had the largest
contingent of choristers from any single choir in the nation
2004 – For
the first time in its 64-year history, the Chorus travels to the African
continent, performing more than 20 major concerts
during their 32 day visit to cities throughout South Africa.
2005 – Beloved Chorus friend and Touring mom, Clara Montgomery, passed away on Tuesday,
February 8, 2005. She was affectionately known as “Ma” Montgomery to the hundreds of boys who were in the Chorus during her nearly two decades as Touring mom. Click here for more.
