Pass the Hat

The Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus announced today a special campaign to raise $75,000.00 to pay unforeseen expenses related to its upcoming tour to Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic. “Due to the changing world economy, since the trip was scheduled over a year ago–the shrinking U.S. dollar and the rising cost of fuel and accommodations–the Chorus faces unexpected travel expenses,” said Michael Smith, president of the Board of Directors. “The Board firmly believes that we must honor commitments to travel and do not want the boys to miss this extraordinary opportunity. Therefore, we are committed to coordinating efforts to defray the unanticipated additional costs. ”

The Chorus will travel to Tucson’s sister city Almaty, Kazakhstan in June for a week of concerts and camaraderie with the Almaty Isker Boy Choir that visited Tucson during its tour of Arizona in January.
The second week of the Tucson Boys Chorus tour will take place in the Czech Republic where our singing ambassadors with be a featured choir at the the 2nd International Boys and Men’s Choral Festival. The Chorus will perform with other boys and men's choirs from around the world under the direction of world-renowned conductors James Litton, Diane Loomer, Robert Sund and Jaroslav Krcek. Concerts will take place in historic churches and theatres of Central Europe, including the famous Dvorak Hall in the Rudolfinum, Prague.

The Chorus is asking the community of Tucson for financial support with a special Pass The Hat for the Boys Chorus Campaign. Contributions will be applied directly to the tour expense and may be made by contacting the Boys Chorus office at (520) 296-6277or donating online below.
